MSA Publishes New Karting Regs

Posted on: 08/09/2012 in: News and Regulations The MSA has just published it’s monthly ‘MSA News’ e-magazine, which details new Karting regulations to be included in the 2013 Yearbook. However, all karters should be aware that they take IMMEDIATE effect, as a supplement to the existing 2012 regs. You can download the MSA News Sept 2012 as a PDF from HERE. Karting For immediate implementation: ƒƒ U17.29.6 – When drivers are weighed, they will now be weighed together with their Personal Protective Equipment to address the issue of additional weight being concealed within protective equipment.
  • ƒƒ  U12.7-U12.7.3 – It is no longer permissible to run any kart engine in the pits or paddock area. Kart engines must only be run in specific areas designated by the organisers and then only for a maximum of 10 seconds.
  • ƒƒ  C2.3.1 – When a licensed timekeeper is not present, a time penalty cannot be applied but competitors can be moved back 5 places; where a licensed timekeeper is present, a time penalty or place penalty may be applied.
  • ƒƒ  The proposed changes to the karting championship structure which had previously been approved by Motor Sports Council have been postponed for a period of 12 months for implementation from 2014.
